Dwayne McDuffie Fired Off Of JLA
Occasional Superheroine: —
link It's DC's right to fire people who think for themselves. People who think for themselves and have opinions can potentially work counter to the Greater Goal. It's far easier to edit writers who are passive, take a lot of bullshit, and are OK about having their stories and characters fucked with by people who don't know shit about storytelling. Wow. DC took the writer of the legendary Justice League cartoon – which truly, in my circles, are considered legendary episodes – and couldn't even fucking work with him in a satisfactory manner. Whose ...
Justice League without McDuffie
Shelly's Comic Book Shelf —
McDuffie's off Justice League of America. I first saw the news here.
First off, unlike many other people, I enjoyed Brad Meltzer's run on the book. He gets the characters -- well, most of them -- and he actually wrote about them doing stuff.
Second, I get that McDuffie didn't get to decide who was on the team. It's a team book, it's one of DC's main titles, and while I can understand wanting to tweak it to your own liking, my feeling is that not being happy about the characters you're writing on a team book isn't that much different than being given ...
McDuffie off JLA; whither Milestone?
PopCultureShock :: Comics : Games : Movies : Lifestyle —
For basically shooting his mouth off.
What I’m wondering now is what this will mean for the Milestone characters. As long as McDuffie was at DC, one had the sense that he would, at the very least, keep an eye on them and offer information about them when necessary. Now he’s gone and they’re part of the DCU now, so who knows what direction they’ll take? I’m not worried for McDuffie - he certainly doesn’t need DC and he’s got other things to keep him busy. Still, we all knew the day would come when he would leave DC, whether ...

... Raptor to open combat in the Shadowspire. Â Seamlessly integrating Milestone's Dakota into the DCU (yes, once upon a time they were in separate dimensions -- SUPERBOY PUNCH! Â Get over it) and with this issue's gems of dialogue (Stewart: "You're smarter than us. We get it." Hardware: "Maybe the general principle, but the magnitude of the gap ..."), brilliant art (courtesy of Rags Morales, John Dell and Pete Pantazis) you've got a comic so good that it makes you wonder how the heck they could fire the writer of such amazing material in a debacle that's reminiscent of ...
James Robinson & Mark Bagley Named JLA Creative Team
Comic Book Resources —
... partner in crime(fighting) will be the esteemed Mark Bagley who’s dynamic storytelling skills I intend to make full use of,” Robinson said. “It’s further exciting/gratifying for me that I can dove-tail the events of Cry For Justice into the main book where post-Blackest Night will emerge a new team and a new exciting direction as they get caught up in the next wave of events building throughout the DCU.” Robinson replaces regular writer Dwayne McDuffie, whose last issue was #33. As we noted at the end of May , McDuffie was fired from the series. A story by Len Wein is ...
